Surveyors
For the most part, anyone that ventures into Twilight Jungle or the wasteland can expect the same things a normal person does. They still have access to all the stores and public transportation, they're still free to spend their free time however they want, with perhaps only a few more odd looks due to the mutations they tend to have. However, most of them don't have a job, instead getting money from the information and resources they get from their expeditions to cover living expenses. It's lucrative enough that they can meet the wage floor with just 4-5 hours of work a week, so they tend to be quite wealthy.
The big difference between surveyors and most people is that they go into these dangerous areas. The monsters don't venture out of the jungle, and there's a large wall separating it from the city. At most, people might have to deal with the occasional giant insect, but even that's rare because people rarely go outside. Any surveyor that goes into the jungle will face these monsters on a regular basis, pretty much any time they go into the jungle. Sometimes they can avoid them, others learn how to fight them. Regardless, working around the monstrous hazards in the jungle is a normal part of their lives. As a result, most jungle surveyors know how to fight, or have extremely good stealth skills.
They also tend to have an eye for value. Even if they don't know exactly what something is, they can often tell if people will be interested in it and buy it from them, or whether it'd be worth gathering or picking up. Surveyors are still human, so they are limited in what they can gather from a single trip into Twilight Jungle, so this is a very important skill for them. They also tend to develop a sense for what's edible or not. The ones that don't die quickly. It's not unusual for surveyors to not bring a lunch or any food or water with them. The jungle provides and has a great abundance of food. So much so that it's actually physically impossible, thanks to the influence of magic making the impossible possible. Some prefer to gather their own food and get water off the water abundant fruits on some of the trees so that they have more room to carry things.
The wasteland is a bit more straightforward. There's no monsters, so the only thing they have to worry about is the terrain and not staying there for too long. The resources there tend to be too large to carry back, since they're mostly mineral resources, but just knowing their location can be valuable. Sometimes, they even find odd artifacts from civilization before the wasteland was formed. As a result, wasteland surveyors tend to sell information more than physical goods. It also means they don't tend to be as rich as jungle surveyors because there's less to find.

Death
While perhaps not something people deal with on a daily basis, humans are mortal so it's something every person will have to deal with eventually. With there only being one city, and crime being low, violence is uncommon, so most people die of old age. The second most common cause of death would be people going into Twilight Jungle and never coming back. Disappearances aren't common, but when they do happen it's blamed on either the person going into the jungle, or being kidnapped by Gnosis for experiments. The only other major sources of violence in the city would be the occasional bit of terrorism or vigilante justice and the people that get on the wrong side of the mafia (or happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and learn more than they should).
Beyond that, the only other major source of death besides old age is medical complications. Medicine focuses mostly on contagious diseases to protect city health. With the population density being so high, the risk of disease spreading is huge and could easily turn into an epidemic if not controlled properly. Resources are focused on controlling that, so there often aren't resources put into handling diseases that aren't contagious. As a result, most people that get diseases like diabetes or cancer will die from it. People that end up having trouble with their kidneys or other complications that would require life long intervention will frequently end up killing the person because of inability to get treatment. Being rich often doesn't help either as there simply aren't enough resources from it. The only people that tend to get such treatments are people in important jobs that are difficult to replace, such as doctors, researchers, engineers, and government officials (though people question the last one sometimes, wondering if it's only because they're the ones that make the decisions).
Beliefs on death vary by religion, and there's no universal belief in New Sumatra. However, because of sanitation and space restrictions, there's only one option for how the body is handled after death. If the body is found, it will always be cremated. The family, or the dead individual if they happened to mention it in their will, have the choice of having their ashes scattered in a spot in the wasteland or Twilight Jungle. The spot in the wasteland is a pretty place with some interesting volcanic rocks and lava flow patterns. The spot in the jungle is near the wall in the residential district. Families are still free to have a funeral, but that's ultimately what will happen to the body.
