Hikaru had minimal interest in the academy, especially the more she looked into it. When she first heard about it, she hoped to find more experienced mages that could help her with controlling some of the more volatile aspects of her power, but most of the people she came across were younger than her, and did not appear to have that much experience with magic. Calling this place an academy seemed misleading and she couldn't help but feel let down after seeing it. She wanted to try to glean as much useful information and experience from this place as she could, but she doubted she'd spend much time here. When it came down to it, worrying about her sister was more likely to keep her here than any of the services the academy offered.
So, rather than look at any of the living accommodations or some of the facilities with in the school, Hikaru decided to simply go home. She was needed there, and there was plenty of space for her to not only practice with her new powers, but to use them in a practical way. It'd probably be far easier to harvest rice when she could simply make the crop orbit around her, and as long as she stayed in the water she probably wouldn't set anything on fire. It seemed like it was worth trying in a remote area as a test. If it worked it could save her village a lot of time and effort.
However, first she had to figure out how to get there. She knew there were a bunch of portals in one area of the academy, but she could not remember where they were. Hikaru thought they were this way, but she'd been walking for quite some time and hadn't seen them at all. Even more puzzling, she came across a door that wouldn't open. The doors around the hall of portals weren't hard to open at all, so why the knob on this one was stuck she had no idea. She could probably just blast through it without much trouble, but she really didn't want to damage anyone's property, and that came with the risk that she might accidentally set the academy on fire. Instead, she simply leaned against the door and started throwing her mundane weight against it. If the door was simply stuck like she thought it was, then it shouldn't be too difficult to force it open. She was not a frail woman after all.
